I’ve always been someone who prefers working alone. I’m naturally introverted, and I like focusing deeply on my work.

Little Kate, always focused, always independent

When I was in school, I preferred individual projects. Later, when I worked in the finance department of a manufacturing company here in Ohio, I focused on doing my job well and being reliable. When I built my YouTube channel, I did it step by step, on my own. When I graduated, it was through discipline and consistency.

For most of my life, my strategy was simple: work hard, stay focused, and keep improving.

And that worked.

But last year, I realized that if I wanted to build something bigger, hard work alone was not enough.

I needed to start doing things that were outside of my natural personality. That meant reaching out to people, starting conversations, and building relationships intentionally.

Not because it felt natural. It didn’t.

But because I understood that building something meaningful requires interacting with the real world and build meaningful connections.

At first, I didn’t know exactly who to talk to or where it would lead. But I started anyway. One conversation at a time.

And slowly, things began to move.

Today, I’m working on building a platform designed to help entrepreneurs operate more efficiently. I’m also preparing for my first interview with a real estate investor I met through a simple connection (this makes me so excited!). None of this happened suddenly. It came from small actions repeated consistently over time.

This is what I’ve learned:

Your life rarely changes because of one big decision. It changes because of consistent actions in a new direction.

Most people don’t need more motivation.

They need to identify what they’ve been avoiding.

Sometimes it’s starting. Sometimes it’s reaching out. Sometimes it’s committing to something long enough to see results.

Twelve months is a long time when you use it intentionally.

And twelve months from now, your life can look very different from today.

Not because of luck.

But because of the decisions you make consistently.

Kate
